3. Haute couture (/ˌt kˈtjʊər/; French pronunciation: [ot kuˈtyʁ]; French for "high sewing" or "high dressmaking" or "high fashion") refers to the creation of exclusive custom-fitted clothing.

A haute couture garment is often made for a client, tailored specifically for the wearer’s measurements and body stance.

Considering the amount of time, money, and skill that is allotted to each completed piece, haute couture garments are also described as having no price tag - in other words, budget is not relevant.

The term originally referred to Englishman Charles Frederick Worth's work, produced in Paris in the mid-nineteenth century.[3] In modern France, haute couture is a protected name that can be used only by firms that meet certain well-defined standards. However, the term is also used loosely to describe all high-fashion custom-fitted clothing, whether it is produced in Paris or in other fashion capitals such as London, Milan, New York or Tokyo

Haute couture is fashion that is constructed by hand from start to finish, made from high quality, expensive, often unusual fabric and sewn with extreme attention to detail and finished by the most experienced and capable sewers, often using time-consuming, hand-executed techniques.

Mary Curzon, Baroness Curzon of Kedleston in 1903.  Worth's clientele was astonished by his beautiful creations. His clientele widened and he, most notably, gained the admiration of Empress Eugenie, wife of Napoleon III.
With the support of Empress Eugenie, he fully launched his universal career, from New York to Wales.

Constantly looking to innovate couture, Worth set the edge for popular trends by initiating the various silhouettes, lengths, and designs of skirts, hats, shawls, and capes. Worth’s dresses were worn at a variety of occasions, from aristocratic royal events to masquerades. Lavish dresses and costumes were created using precious stones and colorful fabrics to complement various themes and events.

The syndicate has about 18 members, including such fashion giants as Coco Chanel, Christian Dior, and Pierre Cardin.

Workers often specialize in one area, such as feathers, fabric, buttons, shoes, etc.

Made from scratch for each customer, haute couture clothing typically requires three fittings.
It usually takes from 100 to 400 hours to make one dress, costing from $26,000 to over $100,000.

A tailored suit starts at $16,000, an evening gown at $60,000.

Prior to 1979, only female names were used to name hurricanes. That year, the United States began alternating between male and female names for Atlantic hurricanes.

I am embarrassed because I of course had heard of haute couture u know because of like when u see celebrities and movie stars walk on the red carpet and when like on E! and u see them talk about how much the dresses are and talk about what designer they are wearing and stuff.
Just had no idea it was French. Things are starting to like make a turn towards more French, Italian, Irish, Scottish, Wales, English feel. Now I know they are a lot of cultures there, but they are the vibes I am getting for right now though. I swear.  I mean it’s true. Look at the theme on my boards. Just look at how they seem to be centered around certain things and then sudenly when like u look to another board you’ll see it is an imitation of the same damn board before it! lol, it’s why I exhaust myself trying to what I call myself trying to do... is to “consolidate” them. lol... anyway, I learned a LOT and I wand to learn more! I may include this in my French board on Pinterest or I may make another board.. but I swear you are doing your voodoo lol or your lady luck like power over me. I feel you are all around me anyway though. So it’s cool. I know it is your job to hate me.
